Meet our gorgeous Barney! Barney has been on quite a journey since arriving with us.  When Barney first came into us, he was extremely fearful and timid.  He would hide at the back of his kennel and growl if anyone approached him.  It was clear that he was frightened and needed time to understand that he was safe.  Over the past couple of weeks, Barney has slowly started to come our of his shell, and what a difference it has made!  He is now showing us what a sweet, friendly and loving boy he really is.  Once Barney gets to know and trust you, his lovely personality begins to shine through.  Barney enjoys his walks and loves getting out and about exploring.  He walks nicely on his lead and would happily enjoy long walks with his new family.  Because of his nervous nature, Barney will need a quiet, calm home with someone who understands that trust takes time.  He needs a patient family who will allow him to settle at his own pace and gently help him build his confidence.  A calm approach is very important for Barney.  Barney is looking for someone who will be patient with him, give him the time he needs and, most importantly, show him that he is safe and loved.  He would benefit from a private secure garden.

The potential adopter will need to commit to multiple meet and greets before the adoption can take place so Barney can get to know them.

Barney has socialised well with other dogs while in our care, although he does prefer a calmer dog, so we feel he could be rehomed with another dog of similar size and gentle nature following a successful meet and greet (must be neutered).

As Barney came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on him and as he can be nervous we would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years.
