Meet this adorable duo Ziggy + Frankie!
Ziggy and Frankie came into our care due to no fault of their own. They are both sweet boys who love cuddles and attention but have to gain your trust first. Frankie is more confident around people than Ziggy is, so multiple meets may be needed before they can go home. Due to them both still being young dogs they will need continued training to help them grow into well behaved pooches. As with most Dachshunds they both do like to talk a lot in the kennels and out of walks, this is something to take into consideration if you want a quiet life. Ziggy loves to go for walks and to sprint around whilst offlead in an enclosed area. Frankie on the other hand does prefer to be picked up and carried around and isn’t a fan of the lead or the outdoors. He will need more training with his new family so that he can build his confidence and learn what his little legs are for. Off lead in an enclosed area he does join in running around with Ziggy and they both do love playing and wrestling together. The pair have been together since they were young puppies so are well adjusted to living together, they even enjoy sharing their food at meal times. They cannot be rehomed separately.
Due to their ages they can be a little cheeky at times so we are looking for their new family to have plenty of time to put into their training and socialisation. We would recommend that they are taken to classes to help support you with this. They are going to need patience whilst they adjust to their new living arrangements as they have had a lot of new changes recently at such a young age. We need their new family to be serious about taking the pair with on as they are ready to find their forever home!
We believe that Ziggy and Frankie can be rehomed with dog savvy children over the age of 12 years. Due to their barking and nerves at first all children must be confident around dogs. They have previously lived with children. This is subject to a successful meet.
We believe that Ziggy and Frankie should be the only dogs in the home. This is due to them requiring more socialisation when first meeting dogs. They can both say hello to other dogs, after they have done a lot of shouting first, but do need to build their confidence, especially Ziggy.
They are both very cute and are going to be popular. Please consider all of your circumstances and any changes that could happen that would affect the boys in the future before applying. They are not currently available to view at the centre.
We would advise against the boys being rehomed with cats.
Please do not apply for a dog if you are going on holiday in the next 3 months. They will need time to settle and decompress in their new home before being taken on holiday.
*Applicants that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge
