Meet Ruby!   This lovely girl is looking for an active, loving home where she can continue to grow in confidence.  Ruby can be nervous and unsure when she first meets you, so she will need a patient home who will allow her to settle and build trust at her own pace.  Once she gets to know you, her lovely personality really starts to shine.  She is an incredibly sweet and affectionate girl who loves a fuss and enjoys being close to the people she trusts.  As you would expect from a young Collie, Ruby has lots of energy!  She is giddy, playful and full of enthusiasm, and when she gets particularly excited, you may be treated to some brilliant zoomies!  Ruby will need an active home that can provide plenty of long walks, adventures and, just as importantly, lots of mental stimulation to keep her clever Collie brain busy.  Ruby is still very much a youngster and has plenty to learn. She will need help with her basic commands, along with continued training and socialisation to help her develop into a well-rounded adult dog.  She is also unsure about being groomed, so this will need to be introduced slowly and positively to help build her confidence.  Ruby would thrive with adopters who understand the needs of an intelligent, energetic breed and who have the time and commitment to continue her training.  Ruby will need a private secure garden.

She has socialised with other dogs whilst in our care, although she can be a little unsure at first with some dogs.  We do feel she would be best rehomed as the only dog in the home where her new adopter can build up her confidence around other dogs in a controlled environment with lots of positive reinforcement.

Ruby does have a Grade 3 Heart Murmur.  This will be discussed further with the successful applicant.

No cats for her.

As Ruby came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on her so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years.
