Meet our beautiful Missy!
When this lovely girl first arrived with us she was absolutely terrified of the world around her. Everything was new and overwhelming, and she understandably struggled to feel safe. She kept her distance, unsure of people and her surroundings, and needed time, patience and gentle reassurance. Thanks to the dedication of our staff, she has come on leaps and bounds. She has slowly learned to trust the staff who care for her everyday and will now allow them to stroke and comfort her. Watching her begin to relax has been incredibly rewarding. As her confidence has grown, we are starting to see glimpses of her true personality shine through. She is beginning to show her playful side, enjoying little bursts of fun and interaction and her little tail wags like mad when she sees us, which is a joy to see after such a nervous start. She is still a sensitive and unsure girl who will need a calm, understanding home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace. For this reason she will need an experienced owner who understands nervous dogs and can provide time, patience and consistency she will need to truly flourish. Missy will need a private secure garden.
Missy has interacted with other dogs whilst in our care and although she can be in their presence she does tend to avoid them and prefers her own space rather than active interaction, so for this reason she will need to be the only dog in the home where her new adopter can continue to build up her confidence around other dogs.
With the right home this sweet girl has so much potential to grow into a loving and loyal companion. She just needs someone willing to see past her fears and help her feel safe, secure and loved. The potential adopter will need to commit to multiple regular meet and greets so Missy can get to know them before the adoption can take place.
As Missy came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on her and as she is still very timid we would like any children/visiting children in the home to be 14+ years.
We are unsure how Missy would react around cats.
*Applicants that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge
