Meet this gorgeous girly Ginger!

When Ginger first came into our care she was very nervous, but with patience, kindness, and support from our staff, she has made lovely progress and is slowly learning that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. New people, places and noises can make her a little unsure so we feel she is in need of a quieter and less busy household with someone who is willing to take that extra time to get to know her and give her the time that she needs to feel safe. Ginger is especially nervous of men. Because of this, Ginger will need several meets with her potential adopters to help her feel comfortable and build a trusting bond.

Once she feels comfortable it’s like watching a completely different dog, her true personality really shines, she’s playful, super silly, full of energy and LOVES a kiss and a cuddle!
Ginger is a real foodie and will do most things for a treat (especially a carrot!) she has also mastered the puppy eyes which she will use against you with every snack or meal you eat!
She a really curious girl on her walks, she’s loves exploring what nature has to offer and stopping to sniff every new smell she can!

Ginger has interacted really well with other dogs whilst being with us and she loves to make new furry friends, however we do think because of her initial nervousness and her need for attention/reassurance she would benefit from being the only dog in a home so she can get all the love, cuddles and treats all to herself!!

Ginger has previously been in a foster home for 3 weeks, during this time we have found out that she is good with stairs, loves getting comfortable on the sofa and is pretty much toilet trained – with the odd couple of accidents. She likes to make her presence known and will bark when people knock on the door or she hears other dogs barking. She can be left alone for short periods of time without issues but does prefer people to be around. She flinches and gets scared of sudden movements or noises, we think this is due to her previous mistreatment. Gingers love language is definitely physical touch so she is after someone who loves cuddles! Ginger lived with a 14 year old during her foster stay and was really good with them. She is calm and gentle and loved the attention. Due to this we feel that Ginger would be able to be rehomed with children over 14 years old that are very dog savvy and have grown up around dogs.

With the right home, time, and understanding, Ginger will make a wonderfully loving and loyal companion. Could you be the one to give this special girl the patience and love she deserves?

*Applicants that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge
