Introducing fabulous Finn; the greatest biscuit catcher at Manchester Dogs’ Home!
Finn is a handsome Lurcher who arrived into our care in September 2021.
When Finn first arrived over a year ago, he lacked training and manners and was unsure of how to behave around the kennel staff and other dogs in the home. He was often difficult to control when walking on the lead, he was incredibly vocal and would stress in unfamiliar situations.
With time and patience, Finn has come on leaps and bounds and continues to make progress each day.
Now, Finn walks well on a head collar and has gained so much confidence.
He responds well to commands, corrects easily and is much more accepting of strangers and unfamiliar sounds and situations.
He is loving and affectionate towards those he interacts with often and appreciates attention and affection.
Whilst in our care, Finn has met a number of our other dogs. To begin with, Finn appeared fearful around them and was unsure how to react, choosing to become vocal and sometimes lunging towards them. However, after including Finn in a number of socialisations walks with other dogs, he has interacted well with some.
Having said that, Finn does often prefer his own space therefore will need to be the only dog in the household.
Strong in both body and will, Finn will require owners who have experience with large dogs and are able to provide ongoing training and socialisation.
Finn is at his happiest when spending time outside. He would be best suited to a home with a rural setting, providing him with plenty of space to exercise and explore; but please be aware, Finn can jump very high therefore the garden area must be fully secure with tall fencing (6ft+).
Finns’ new owners will need to be able to commit to plenty of walking adventures as Finn will happily walk for miles!
He has an incredibly high prey drive which is something his new owners will need to be mindful of.
Due to Finns nervous behaviour on arrival, he will require several consecutive visits before the adoption can take place.
Finn is looking for an adult only home where there are no visiting children, and he is unable to live with any other pets.
