Meet gorgeous Bruce! Bruce has had a very difficult start in life. When he first came into our care, he was in a truly sorry state. He was extremely thin, and his skin was in a terrible condition. His body was bald, red and very inflamed, and it was clear that he had not had the care he desperately needed. After lots of veterinary visits, treatment, time and plenty of TLC, we are so pleased to see the changes in him. His fur is beginning to grow back, he is gaining weight, and he is slowly starting to feel better in himself. Bruce is a very frightened and timid boy. The world is a scary place for him, and he can be extremely nervous and shut down. He will need someone who understands that building his confidence will not happen overnight. However, once Bruce learns to trust you, you see a completely different side to him. He is a very affectionate, playful and loving boy who enjoys being close to the people he feels safe with. Bruce will need lots of time, patience, understanding and reassurance. His new adopter must be prepared to give him the space he needs and allow him to progress at his own pace. This could take some considerable time, and there may be setbacks along the way. He is looking for an experienced owner who has previous experience with very nervous and fearful dogs and understands the commitment involved in helping a dog like Bruce learn that the world can be a safe place. Bruce has already come such a long way, and we believe there is a wonderful, affectionate boy waiting to emerge as his confidence grows. He deserves a quiet, patient and loving home where he can finally feel safe, secure and cherished. The potential adopter must commit to multiple regular meet and greets for Bruce to get to know then before the adoption can take place. He will need a private secure garden.
Bruce has socialised with other dogs whilst in our care, he can be ok with some and very unsure around others, so we feel he would be best rehomed as the only dog in the home where he can get 100% of the love and attention.
No cats for Bruce.
As Bruce is so timid we would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years.
