Introducing Bear, a 1 year 6 month old, 37kg Akita who came into our care as a stray.
When Bear first arrived, he was wary of everyone he met and the staff had to invest time and patience into gaining his trust in order to interact with him. Although he has bonded with a few members of staff over time, he is still unsure around strangers and will become very vocal. Now, with those he has bonded with, Bouncy Bear is a playful pup who enjoys playing with his toys and jumping up for kisses.
When meeting other dogs, Bear has made it clear he prefers his own space. Although he is ok with other dogs being around, when close up he will bark and lunge therefore Bear will need to be the only dog in the household.
Due to his size, Bear is very strong on the lead which is something his new owner will need to be mindful of.
Bear is looking for a breed experienced owner who is able to provide him with the ongoing training and socialisation he needs. Children in the household must be over the age of 16 years and he is unable to live with cats.
Successful applicants must commit to several visits with Bear in order to build a relationship with him before the adoption can take place.
