Meet Arlo! Arlo is looking for an active experienced home where he can really thrive. He is a sweet, friendly and affectionate boy who loves being around people and getting lots of attention. He has a lovely personality and is a real character, but he is also a very high-energy dog who needs plenty of exercise, mental stimulation and structure in his new home. Arlo absolutely loves his long walks and enjoys having time off lead in our secure compound, where he can burn off some of that energy. He is very strong on the lead, so his new owner will need to be confident and experienced with a powerful, energetic dog and willing to continue working on his lead manners. He also has a fun, mischievous side – Arlo loves to chase the hose pipe when staff are cleaning his kennel, his new adopter will need to continue his impulse control and teach him how to channel his energy and enthusiasm in more appropriate ways. He is very vocal when he is in his kennel, particularly when he wants attention. Because of this, we feel he may need gradual introduction to being left alone when he moves into his new home, allowing him time to settle and learn that being alone is safe and okay. Arlo does know some basic commands, and with the right person, consistency and positive training, there is plenty of potential for him to continue learning. He will need an experienced owner who understands high-energy dogs and can provide him with lots of exercise, mental stimulation, training, enrichment, scent games and interactive activities. Arlo is not looking for a quiet sedentary lifestyle. He is an energetic, enthusiastic boy who will need an owner willing to keep his body and mind busy. In return, Arlo has so much affection and fun to give. He is a lovely boy who deserves a home that understands his needs. He will need a private secure garden.
Please only apply for this gorgeous boy if you have the time, experience and commitment to work with him.
Arlo has interacted with other dogs whilst in our care, he is very full-on around them and can sometimes be vocal, so we feel he would be best rehomed as the only dog in the home where his new adopter can carry on working on his manners around other dogs in a controlled environment with lots of positive reinforcement.
No cats or small furries for Arlo.
As Arlo came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on him so would prefer any children/visiting children in the home to be 16+ years.
If you have a holiday booked in the next 3 months, please wait until you return to apply for a dog.
*Applications that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge.
