Meet Hazel!  He ( yes Hazel is a male!) is a very friendly, affectionate boy who loves spending time with people and, of course playing with his toys!  Hazel can be a little unsure when meeting new people, and does bark at them sometimes, so he would benefit from an owner who understands that he may need a little time and patience to feel comfortable and build trust.  Hazel can occasionally be a little possessive over his bed and toys in his kennel, but is absolutely fine once he is out of his kennel.  This isn’t something we see all the time, but it is something his new adopter will need to be aware of and manage appropriately.  For this reason, Hazel needs an experienced owner who is confident around dogs, understands their behaviour and is willing to continue working with him using patience, consistency and positive training.   Once Hazel knows and trusts you, he is a loving and affectionate boy with plenty of personality.  He can be a little mouthy sometimes when over stimulated. He has lots of love to give and, with the right home he will make a wonderful companion.  He will need a private secure garden.

Hazel has socialised with other dogs whilst in our care, and he can be a little unsure around them and does tend to be vocal, so we feel he would be best rehomed as the only dog in the home where his new adopter can carry on his training and socialisation around other dogs with lots of positive reinforcement, and as he can be a little possessive over his bed and toys he would be more relaxed without another dog to worry about.

As Hazel came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on him so would prefer any children in the home to be 16+ years.
