Crufts 2026

Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home were delighted to attend Crufts following an invitation from The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Training Scheme. During the event, The Kennel Club launched their new Foundation Course, designed specifically for rescue dogs and older dogs that have not previously received training. The course is similar in structure to the Puppy Foundation and provides a pathway for dogs to progress on to the Bronze Good Citizen Award.

Our team also took part each day in the “Tunnel of Temptation,” a relay-style event where dogs raced against other teams, running from handler to owner through distractions such as treats and toys. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the abilities of rescue dogs while engaging with the public in a fun and interactive way.

We had an excellent experience, meeting many passionate dog lovers and fellow welfare organisations. Attending Crufts is incredibly important for us as a charity, as it raises awareness of our work and highlights the potential of rescue dogs. We are extremely grateful to The Kennel Club for inviting us to be part of such a prestigious event.

Anna Stansfield, the CEO of the Dogs Home said “The new Foundation Course will make a meaningful difference by helping newly adopted rescue dogs build strong bonds with their owners while developing essential foundation training and life skills”.
