Hatties Journey at Manchester Dogs Home

Hattie, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier  came to us as a stray after being collected by the dog wardens.

When Hattie came to us, it was clear her front leg was badly deformed, probably the result of an old, untreated fracture in her carpus (Ankle) She’d likely lived with that pain for some time, and every step was a struggle, but she never gave up. She still wagged her tail. She still trusted.

Our talented vet did everything she could, but her leg just couldn’t be saved, as with all the dogs in our care we made a promise to her – no more suffering, just healing, comfort, and love.

The day her leg was removed wasn’t the end of her story – it was the beginning of a new one.

The resilience of dogs amazes us every day and Hattie is no exception, literally the day after her operation she was up and about as if nothing had happened!

Can you imagine us humans doing that?

A few days on and Hattie runs, plays, and lives like the pain never existed. She’s full of joy. Full of hope. Full of life.
