MCDH Staff Climb the Yorkshire 3 Peaks

On 10th & 11th October a dedicated team of staff at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home took on one of the UK’s most iconic endurance challenges – the Yorkshire Three Peaks – to raise money and awareness for the charity

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is no small feat. It involves scaling the summits of Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m), and Ingleborough (723m), covering a total distance of 24 miles (38.6 km) with over 1,500 metres of ascent – all within 12 hours. Despite the demanding route, the team pushed through every step, supported by stunning views across the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The group came together not just for the physical challenge, but to make a difference. Every mile walked and every peak climbed helped support Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home funding funding to support the dogs in our care

In the weeks leading up to the event, participants trained hard – tackling local hills, long hikes, and endurance walks to prepare for the big day. T

“It was tough, but knowing we were doing it for such an important cause kept us going,” said James Ratcliff Manchester Dogs Home Manager. “The Yorkshire Three Peaks is a challenge that’s as rewarding as it is demanding.”

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, supporters, and donors, the team’s efforts will make a lasting difference. Together, they proved that with determination, teamwork, and a shared purpose, it’s possible to climb mountains – both literal and metaphorical – for those who need it most.
