Brodie – Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Match Made In Heaven

Know someone who would adore Brodie? Please tell them.

Brodie is a very playful, energetic young boy who is full of love and personality. He’s looking for an active home with someone who understands the breed and is happy to do multiple meet-and-greets, giving him time to build a bond and show how he responds to basic training.

After a good walk, play session, or run around, Brodie is more than happy to relax and chill with you. He loves nothing more than sitting close for a fuss, rolling over you or simply enjoying a good scratch.

Being a typical Staffy, Brodie has lots of energy and will need plenty of enrichment, especially when left alone, to keep his clever mind stimulated. He is very intelligent and has already started learning not to jump up — he will now sit straight away instead.

Brodie can get a mouthy when he’s overexcited and giddy, so he needs a confident and experienced owner who can set clear boundaries and guide him calmly. Ongoing training will really help him thrive, and working with a dog trainer would be beneficial for his new family.

He walks well on the lead but sometimes thinks it’s a game and may try to play tug-of-war. He would benefit from further lead training. He doesn’t tend to do this when using a chain lead which is something the staff have already put him on so he is used to walking nicely on this.

Brodie greets other dogs respectfully with wagging tails and just wants to play. With successful meet-and-greets, he may do well in a home with another dog.

He is clean and goes to the toilet outside, though occasional accidents in his kennel suggest he may need some continued toilet training. He’s also a strong chewer, so tough, durable toys are best for him.

Brodie is a loving, clever boy who just needs the right active family, patience, and guidance to help him reach his full potential.

Brodie has a Grade 1/2 Heart Murmur.  Further details will be discussed with the potential adopter.

As Brodie came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on him therefore we recommend an adult only home for him.

Applications that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge.
