Meet Stevie! Stevie is our little nervous gentleman. He is looking for a special home to call his own. Stevie is a very timid and nervous little soul who has clearly found the world a little overwhelming. Since coming into rescue, he has started to come around a little, but he still finds certain things difficult and needs an adopter who understands his worries and will respect his boundaries. He can be a little growly if there are sudden movements around him or you approach him too fast, so it’s important that his new family understands this is his way of communicating that he feels uncomfortable or unsure. He is now accepting the occasional gentle head stroke, but if we’re honest, Stevie isn’t particularly interested in lots of fuss or attention. He’s quite happy having his own space and doing his own thing. The quickest way to win Stevie over ? A tasty treat! He is more than happy to come over when a tasty treat is on offer, although he’s very much there for the treat rather than a cuddle. Stevie will need an experienced, calm and understanding home where there are no expectations placed upon him. He needs people who are happy to let him settle at his own pace, give him plenty of space and allow him to decide when, and if, he wants interaction. We aren’t looking for someone who wants a cuddly lap dog. We are looking for someone who can appreciate a little old man for exactly who he is, without trying to change him. Someone who understands that love sometimes means giving a dog the space to simply be. Stevie is a nervous older gentleman who deserves a peaceful retirement, somewhere he can feel safe, secure and comfortable, with adopters who will respect his little quirks and never ask more of him than he can give. He would benefit from a private secure garden.
No cats for Stevie.
Stevie has interacted with other dogs while in our care. He can be a little barky and unsure with some and happy to have a sniff at others, so we feel he would be best rehomed as the only dog in the home where he doesn’t have to worry about another dog being around. We want Stevie’s retirement to be as peaceful and stress-free as possible, so a pet-free home where he can have his own space and feel safe would be ideal for him.
As Stevie came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on him and as he is very nervous we would prefer any children/visiting children to be 16+ years.
If you have a holiday booked in the next 3 months, please wait until you return to apply for a dog.
*Applications that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge.
