Father and Daughter Successfully Complete Mount Fuji Charity Challenge
A father and daughter have successfully completed a challenging climb to the summit of Mount Fuji, two years after their original attempt was cancelled due to severe weather conditions.
The pair first planned to climb Japan’s highest mountain during a trip in 2024 to raise money for Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home. However, dangerous weather forced their guides to cancel the expedition. Despite the disappointment, they still donated the £400 they had raised to the charity that year.
Returning to Japan this summer, they were determined to finish what they had started. Their climb took place over 2 and 3 July, beginning at around midday after meeting their guides at the train station and travelling to Mount Fuji.
After several hours of climbing, they reached the seventh station at approximately 5.30pm, where they enjoyed an evening meal before settling into sleeping bags for a well-earned rest ahead of the final ascent.
The following morning began with a 12.45am wake-up call as they prepared to continue the climb under the cover of darkness. Reaching the summit just before 4am, they were rewarded with breathtaking views as the sun rose above the clouds – a memorable moment that made the challenging journey worthwhile.
Following breakfast at the summit, the pair began their descent, spending almost four hours making their way back down the mountain. Despite wet conditions, aching muscles and a few slips and falls along the way, they successfully returned to the starting point, completing one of the toughest physical challenges they had ever undertaken.

Reflecting on the achievement, they expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported the fundraising effort and thanked Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home for the vital work it continues to do. The charity also holds a special place in their hearts, having helped them adopt their beloved dog, Rocky, in 2022.
The successful climb marked the completion of a challenge that had been two years in the making, demonstrating determination, perseverance and a commitment to supporting a cause close to their hearts.
