Let us introduce you to Kano, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who arrived into our care as a stray.
On arrival, Kano was incredibly nervous and completely bewildered by the situation he found himself in. He struggled with the busy kennel environment and was unsure of how to react around the new people in his life. The staff would find Kano towards the back of his kennel and struggled to get him to interact.
However, with a lot of patience and moving at Kano’s pace, the staff gradually began to gain his trust by spending quiet time with him often and winning him round with plenty of tasty treats!
He is more confident around calm, relaxed people. When meeting groups of people or finding himself in busy environments, he reverts back to behaving nervously and struggling to interact.
A couple of months on, Kano is showing himself to be a smart and inquisitive young man. He is very good at puzzle games and will work for his treats.
Once you have gained his trust, he enjoys your company and will happily sit on your knee.
When Kano first came into us he was a little wary on leaving the kennel and when heading out for his daily walks would often pull back to return to the home. Over time, he has grown in confidence and now enjoys his daily strolls, walking gently on the lead.
Kano has met a number of our dogs whilst in our care. He prefers his own space and will choose to ignore them. If they get in his face, he’s not afraid to tell them off.
Kano is looking for a patient owner who is willing to invest the time in further confidence building and can provide him with ongoing training and socialisation. As he is young, he has a lot to learn and that does include housetraining.
Kano is unable to live with cats and children in the household must be over the age of 14 years.
If you feel you can provide Kano with a loving forever home, please fill in an application form.
